OLD HY ROWERS WIN MEDAL AT NATIONALS

At the recently completed Australian Rowing Championships – hastily transferred from Sydney to Nagambie due to flooding – Old HY rowers featured in several events.

In a First for HY rowing in the Interstate Races Will Achermann secured the 2 seat in the Victorian King’s Cup crew. After a hard battle with NSW the Vic’s were unable to hold them off and so picked up the Silver Medal.

Also in the Open category Joel Cain also picked up a Siler in the Men’s Double Scull and Won the Single Scull B Final.

Under 23’s saw 3 Old HY rowers competing with Will Achermann taking Gold as a crew member in both the U23 Eights and U23 coxless Four classes. Will also added to his collection with another Silver in the U23 Pair

James Gardiner competed in the U23 Single scull (4th in B Final) and teaming up with Marcus Cain finished 5th in the U23 Double scull. Marcus also competed in the U23 Single Scull finishing 4th in his Repechage.

Unlike some previous years there were no Old HY Female rowers competing at this years ARC.

Congratulations to all who competed and we look forward to following further results in the future.
